To Ease the Passing of Time

To Ease the Passing of Time

Wanderers

In our minds we are like wanderers because we do not know exactly where we are going. I guess we keep looking for a place that we think will bring us closer to inner peace and truth. In the course of our lives, we go through, experience, and witness a lot of things that challenge and change us in the ways we think about life, our destiny, free will, morality, etc. We also hear or read about realities and experiences that others had to live and go through that force us to reconsider the beliefs and certitudes that we thought were going to be forever with us. We also have to integrate the new knowledge we acquire about our universe, our history and the complexity of our mind.

There is no final destination, no promise land, where we can settle down. There is no place where we can unpack our minds and put our ideas and certitudes on display on a shelf as if they were a collection of treasures that we brought back from our journey. We can never say that we are done traveling. There will always be something that will make us leave the fragile and short-lived comfort that we have found.

If we do not want to challenge our minds and look at things differently, all we need to do is close our eyes, our ears and our hearths, or just pretend that we are no longer able to see, hear and feel the world inside and around us. To price to pay for settling down and refusing to move on is to spend the rest of your life in a house filled with denial and contradictions.
